[Hello, Discedo. This is Hughes sitting at his desk, looking quite thoughtful. In fact, his pen and paper are at the ready, and he's tapping his chin with his pen before he starts talking. Beside him is a plate of half-eaten apple pie.]

Right. Any updates from the Watch? If there's anything I can do to help, just ask.

Also, I've been thinking. Does anyone around here teach self-defense skills of any kind? 'Cause I feel like opening my own class for those who are interested to learn a thing or two about knife fighting. I can also help you out if you don't know how to use a gun properly, but knives are my specialty.

There's still no definite schedule at this point, though. [Hughes laughs sheepishly.] I'll keep you guys posted, don't worry. And I'll let you in on what these classes will be about. Long-range fighting will be all about knife throwing and accuracy. Close-range classes will deal with hand-to-hand combat. You don't have to take both, but if you're game, go for it! [He grins.] But remember - this isn't child's play. This is serious fighting, so if you're under 13, I would like to see some permission from your guardian here in Discedo.

Still interested? Fill out this form. If you've got any other questions, now's the time to ask. Actually, I've got a question - when is the gym usually free? I could conduct my classes at the park, but...the gym's a lot safer. [The transmission changes to text briefly.]

[Back to video. Hughes looks a lot happier now.]

Stay tuned for more details! And in the meantime... [HAVE AN 8x10-INCH PORTRAIT OF HIS FAMILY. Yes, that's all you can see. That's him in casual wear and with a big smile on his face, with an arm around a woman with short brown hair. She's carrying a young pigtailed girl, about two or three.] Have a look at my beautiful wife and my beautiful daughter! Doesn't Elysia look divine? Oh, it's as if she and Gracia were sent down from heaven to brighten up my life! I bet this picture was sent down from heaven too, don't you think? I still can't decide where to hang this up...I could put it close to my bed so that it'll be the first thing I see every morning, or over my work desk for that burst of inspiration... [Back to Hughes, just hugging that picture to his chest and spazzing and being completely un-serious now.]

Hey, sounds great! If there's anyway I can help out, just let me know.

What time is the gym usually free? Or...can I share it with other classes?

[identity profile] foxtamer.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
We might be able to double up on some of the knife lessons, as they're my primary weapon as well. But I like the idea of having more than one class if only because students might work better with one style than another.

Well... let's just say it's going to be easier to share it. Although it's probably high time I redid the schedule anyways.... Later in the day you could have more of the gym to yourself.

There's also just regular gym going on at the same time. It's got a lot of room, so it gets used.

What if one of us teaches the close-range attacks, and the other does long-range? Or, one of us takes charge of the beginners, and the other handles the more advanced fighters?

I feel like setting the classes in the afternoon, but I'll see what my potential students have to say about that.

[identity profile] foxtamer.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Either one of those solutions could work, as well as during the afternoon.

Hmm, I've got an opening at 1pm for a class. Would that work for you?

[identity profile] knifedaddy.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds good to me. All right, classes at 1 PM?

How do you attack with your knives, usually? Just so I can divide the classes accordingly.

[identity profile] foxtamer.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there's classes all day, really. Just a knife class then would work.

Depends on the situation. I'll use them in close range and distance combat. ... The details I'd rather say in person.

[identity profile] knifedaddy.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'm currently at Marshall 107. Should I come see you, or the other way around?

[identity profile] foxtamer.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
It'll be faster if I come to see you! [He's got a mark hidden at the entrance to Marshall that he can teleport to.] Be right there!

[identity profile] knifedaddy.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? You've got your chip out or something?

[Oh, Hughes doesn't know this. But he'll be waiting in his room.]

[Commentlog?]

[identity profile] foxtamer.livejournal.com 2010-10-29 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
I do!

[And a couple minutes later (Minato waits a minute), there is a knocking on the apartment door!]

[That was fast. Hughes stands up and quickly opens the door.]

That was fast. By the way, I've still got some apple pie if you're hungry.

I pride myself in being punctual.

[And then Minato's eyes widen a little. He smiles wider, too.]

Apple pie?! You really have some?

[comment log]

[identity profile] knifedaddy.livejournal.com 2010-10-29 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a good asset.

[Hughes just smiles and walks off to the kitchen.] I woke up one day to the smell of my wife's heavenly apple pie! I even have the recipe so I can make some on my own, but I don't think it'll be the same without Gracia's gentle touch...

[He stops rambling long enough to return with a slice.]

[Minato listens to him with a bit of bewilderment, but is smiling by the end. He's also excited about the apple pie.]

... I'll have to agree. Things always taste better when they're made with love.

Yes, they do! Like that batch of cookies Gracia and Elysia made together...I can still taste the melting chocolate chips and the crunchy texture!

[Oh, here's your slice. Hughes sets it down on the table, with a fork.]

Anyway, let's get down to business.

Sounds heavenly.

[A chuckle.]

Business over dessert? I could get used to this.

[identity profile] knifedaddy.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you did come here for business, didn't you?

Re: [comment log]

[identity profile] foxtamer.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
This is true.

[Minato takes a bite of cake and slowly chews it, closing his eyes for a moment.]

It's as wonderful as Kushina's cooking! You are married to a real gift.

[He'll be down to business in a moment, just let him have these few seconds.]

[comment log]

[identity profile] knifedaddy.livejournal.com 2010-11-03 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, Gracia is truly a gift! She and Elysia are the greatest gifts I could ever ask for!

Oh, is Kushina your...wife?

[It...may take some time for these two to get down to business.]

[comment log]

[identity profile] foxtamer.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
I feel the same way about my wife and son.

Kushina is my wife, yes. I don't know what I would do without her.

[... Yeah, on second thought, this is going to take a while.]

[Because family is serious business.]

I'd like to meet her and your son someday. Just...in a better place than this.
